Library of Congress Homeschool tour

On March 14, 2008 our family headed to DC with other Homeschoolers in our group to tour the library of Congress. What an awesome place! Not only did we go for the educational factor but because part of our favorite movie "National Treasure 2" was filmed in the Library of Congress. We were inspired by the beauty of the architechture and the paintings and decorations it seemed on every surface. There was mosaic art on ceilings and floors and what detail!!! Jadon perhaps had the most important question, "where are all the books". They said that researchers must request the books and runners go and get them for you. We learned that you have to be at least age 18 and have a special request for research in order to get a pass to study in the library of Congress. The reading room was phenomenal and unfortunately the tour guide did not know the answer to our very important question....." Is there really a secret spiral staircase in the middle of the room, like the one in the movie that Nicholas Cage used to escape?"
