Unfortunately, the weather was drizzly and very cold and super windy on Thursday, so unless we planned to loose a few kids in the wind gusts on the beach we couldn't really go out on the beach. We were staying at the Cavalier hotel (www.cavalierhotel.com) and it was a great hotel. They actually have two hotels, a historic one and a newer one right on the beach which is the one where we stayed. The indoor pool was across the street in the historic hotel, so we ran back and forth freezing to have some time in the indoor pool on Friday. The water was freezing, but everyone except Christina braved it, at least for a little while.
We loved our 2 rooms which had a fridge and microwave so we had stocked up on snacks to enjoy while we were in the room. The conference center where the conference was held was in an adjoining building so the kids were able to run back and forth and since we were right on the beach, they had more freedom to really enjoy hanging out with tons of LDS homeschooling teens on the beach or in the pool.
The historic hotel reminded me of something out of the movie "Somewhere in Time" with Christopher Reeves. The only part of that hotel I saw was the pool area, but it was so neat and relaxing, even though the water was freezing, it was fun just to be there and we had the pool all to ourselves.
