True education seeks, then, to make men and women not only good mathematicians, proficient linguists, profound scientists, or brilliant literary lights, but also honest men, combined with virtue, temperance, and brotherly love – men and women who prize truth, justice, wisdom, benevolence, and self-control as the choicest acquisitions of a successful life-David O. Visiting the Cemetery February 15, 2008
On February 15 we went to Rest Haven Cemetery to visit Grandpa's Grave (Michael R. Kines). It was nice to take a few moments to remember what a wonderful man he was and to be there with Grandmom. We have been so blessed to have such great parents/grandparents on both sides of our family. After visiting the cemtery, Grandmom took Stephanie and the kids and treated us to a nice lunch at Golden Corral. We know that grandpa continues to watch over us and look after us even though he is away from us. We feel blessed to have known and loved such a great man that taught us so many important things about life. We stood around his grave and had a prayer and talked about the things we missed most about him. By far, the boys missed going fishing with him, which was really about the time with grandpa more than it was about the fish. We hope we can continue our tradition to visit his grave each year to reflect on him and remember such an awesome man who touched our lives so deeply.
